Concentrator Manager - Dem Rep of Congo

Contract single status position in the mining sector in a remote area of the Democratic Rep of the Congo.

  • Salary up to 140US$K per annum (tax free) depending on skills and experience plus benefits.
  • Six day working week
  • Single status position.
  • Benefits: Bonus potential of 20%; Travel allowance (US$12-15K tax free); Vehicle, accommodation and meals provided; 84 days annual leave (total days off site); Medical; Group Benefits Scheme.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bsc Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering Degree
  • At least 5 years experience in a base metal concentrator (Platinum, copper, nickel, zinc) of which at least 2 in managerial position (conventional and refurbished copper/cobalt concentrator that uses gyratory crushers, ball mills, regrind mills and aerated flotation cells).
  • Essential: Flotation experience of sulphides and a solid knowledge of modern metallurgical accounting methods
  • Must be familiar with modern PLC, Scada systems.
  • Knowledge of autogenous or semi-autogenous milling would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Cursory knowledge of French beneficial, but not essential.
  • Must have management experience and have been exposed to HR policy, specifically disciplinary procedures
  • Must be an aspiring manager capable of motivating a workforce (including maintenance personnel) to achieve clearly defined targets and to have an understanding of Concentrator principles to an extent that he does not accept unjustifiable reasons for failure
  • Must be a “go-getter” who wants or believes that he can perform at elevated levels if an opportunity presents itself after he has demonstrated performance
  • Ability to deliver/produce concentrate within agreed business parameters
  • Manage the concentrator and all associated staff
  • Previous experience as an expatriate in Africa will be advantageous
  • Ability to train and motivate Congolese Nationals
