This person will run a significant part of failure analysis and consultancy for this commercial testing laboratory offering mechanical, non-destructive, corrosion and metallurgical testing services to a diverse range of industries. This person must be successful in metallurgical testing services, able to bring clients with them or have a track record in some form of business development within the industry. They will have significant project management experience.

A Metallurgist with experience of UKAS accreditation would be very useful. This will be a self starter, proficient in arguing a clients' case. Consultancy clients include insurance companies, government agencies, shipping and plant asset management companies.

You must possess specialist in-depth knowledge of at least one industry sector and be able to demonstrate a proven operational track record in a number of the following key areas:

metallurgical failure analysis
project and resource management
technical report writing
client liaison and business development
capital equipment insurance claims loss adjustment
preparing and delivering experts testimony in commercial litigation.

Degree qualified, or equivalent, in a metallurgical or materials related subject, you must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the commercial materials testing industry, preferably gained from a consulting background. You will be expected to develop and complete failure analysis and consultancy projects from day one and have the knowledge and contacts to establish and develop new business opportunities, therefore, only candidates with existing expertise and contacts are likely to be suitable.
