Technical Manager, Open Pit Copper/Cobalt

Dem Rep of Congo

Regrettably, we are unable to consider people who do not have prior mining industry experience.

Our client is based in the Dem Rep of the Congo and has a contract expatriate position available for a Technical Manager. They would offer an attractive package to the right individual. The right candidate could be considered for the position of Chief Operating Officer in the short to medium term.

WITH THE ABOVE IN MIND WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • A Mining / Metallurgical or Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Solid operational experience and management expertise with the focus on open pit copper / cobalt oxide deposits with a strong emphasis on hydrometallurgy
  • A proven production safety and cost management track record
  • Experience and expertise in managing technical services (Planning, Geology, Survey, Rock Mechanics, etc), with very good knowledge of engineering and hydrometallurgical processing
  • Need to show exceptional interpersonal skills and business acumen
  • An ability to communicate in French would be advantageous but not essential

REPORTING TO THE GENERAL MANAGER, HE WILL:

  • Oversee all Operational departments
  • Set and achieve production targets and within approved schedules and budgets
  • Manage the expenditure of operating and capital budgets, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operation
  • Promote a culture of awareness and commitment to safe working practices amongst all employees, which will enable a healthy and accident-free working environment.
