Sourcing Manager -

An exceptional opportunity has now arisen for a Sourcing Manager with experience of casting products and multi-national pump and valve companies. This is an influential and highly visible role leading the China Sourcing team in the identification, assessment and qualification of new suppliers and the sample approval process.

Reporting to the Manager, Procurement (China), the essence of the role is supplier selection, as well as providing technical/metallurgical support to Senior Sourcing Engineers, and acting as the primary contact for Valves and Measurement engineering and quality teams related to secondary operations such as plating and heat treating. It will be a demanding position and qualified metallurgist candidates must have recent complete knowledge of the foundry process, as well as the valve industry. You will have two direct reports who will assist in the day-to-day communication and interaction with assigned suppliers, with a focus upon cost reduction, quality improvement and reduction in lead times.

The predominant feature of this role is to be a Metallurgist with strong valve experience and the ideal profile is of an individual who has had in-depth relevant exposure to procurement within a world-class organization.

The preferred requirements/experience/qualifications are:

  • A metallurgical degree
  • Relevant background/training and experience in mechanical engineering
  • Strong technical understanding of API standards
  • Steel casting, forging and machining experience
  • Experience of product development procedures is desirable
  • Thorough command of written and spoken English
  • IT literate
